The Margaret and Luke Pettit Environmental Preserve and Sun-Mar help foster a new generation of conservationists by educating students using practical environmental concepts.
Burlington Ontario. The Margaret and Luke Pettit Environmental Preserve selected Sun-Mar’s Excel series of composting toilets for use at the Preserve located in Cartersville, Georgia. The Pettit Preserve was founded on the principle of environmental preservation as an essential element in young learning. The organization allows children of all ages to be immersed in educational development programs customized to suit each age group. Having Sun-Mar’s composting toilets onsite allows children to engage in hands-on experience with a ‘green’ product that makes a difference to the environment in front of their eyes. Sun-Mar, the Global Composting Experts, have been an industry leader for over 30 years with their comprehensive line of composting toilets. After careful deliberation, the decision was made that Sun-Mar’s Excel and Excel Non-Electric, waterless, chemical-free composting toilets were the best fit for the Preserve.
‘How do we effect our Environment?’ is an example of one program that is offered to students while at the Pettit Preserve. The purpose of this specific program is to show the children the impact of their actions on the environment. The students are shown the effects of pollution as well as the many benefits of reducing, reusing and recycling. This program is just one of the many outdoor-based curricula that help children to understand the footprint that we each leave on this planet and what they can do to help minimize theirs. As Sun-Mar’s composting toilets do not require water and use only natural materials to create compost, they help to highlight the existence of beneficial alternatives that work to create a more sustainable environment.
“Sun-Mar’s composting toilets have made an excellent addition to our facilities. They have helped us to teach and mold many young minds that come to our Preserve wanting to learn more about ways to save their planet. They have given us the opportunity to show the children that we really do practice what we preach and how easy it is to make a difference.” stated Lori Jewell the Education Coordinator for the Pettit Preserve. “The convenience and ease-of-use of these composting toilets is remarkable. We are very glad we made the decision to go with Sun-Mar”
“We are pleased to learn about all of the innovative programs going on at the Pettit Preserve and how our composting toilets have made such an impact. Teaching the future generation about composting is invaluable for creating a sustainable future.” Says Joe LoCicero, USA Sales Manager, Sun-Mar. “Our Excel series toilets are a great fit for the Preserve and we are happy to see the organization making such a positive influence on our future generation.“
